  • Hacker Helmsman RP36 cc 1967

This superb example of a Hacker Helmsman RP36 radio (Serial No. 09335) dates from around 1967 and was manufactured by Hacker Radio Ltd. Maidenhead, Berkshire. It has 11 transistors and is in excellent condition having had both the internal electronics and external Vynide covering restored. All metal trim, the handle, control knobs and perspex dial have also been restored and polished.

It operates on both Medium Wave and Long Wave while back in the day it provided access to the Short Wave 'Marine band' 63-190 metres, now defunct, hence the name Helmsman.

This set features sockets for tape, external aerial for MW/LW, external aerial for SW and earphone socket. It is powered by 8 × 1.5 Volt D-cell batteries although a DC socket has also been added to enable connection to an external 12V power supply (centre pin negative) which is also included.
