A 1920s/30s Austrian Vienna School style satin veneered long cased clock
This 1920s/30s Austrian Vienna School-style longcase clock is a remarkable piece of design and craftsmanship, featuring a beautifully preserved satin maple veneer, a silvered brass and pewter dial, and matching pendulum and weights.
Its slender, elegant form is elevated by a glazed panel door that reveals the inner workings—highlighting the artistry and attention to detail that define the era.
Built around a peerless mechanism, this clock reflects the refined aesthetic of the Vienna School, combining Art Deco influences with precision engineering. Standing tall at 183cm, it commands quiet presence, both decorative and functional. We were drawn to this clock by its striking case, the warm maple tones, and the finely designed face and pendulum.
It arrived with a few pieces missing—a pendulum leader and spring were nowhere to be found. After tracking down replacements and a bit of careful adjustment, the clock is now keeping time. But like many old treasures, it still holds a few secrets.
The weight and chain for the bell hammer is in place but the bell hammer is missing unfortunately but perhaps the sound would have been an issue when striking every hour.
It’s a clock with a story, and a wee bit of mystery still to unravel.
